52 life messages from people sharing lessons gleaned from living life and overcoming day-to-day challenges.
How Did it All Start?
52 Weeks of Hope came out of my own dark period - where I questioned, “What’s the point?” “Why bother?” We all go through our various dark times, yet this one really surprised me. I’m a mom, with great kids, a thriving law practice, I give back, I’ve come so far… yet here I was in a dark place. Me? Of all people? I'm not the dark or depressive type of person.
I knew I couldn't be alone. Others must have gone through similar experiences. I’d always heard that no one on his/her deathbed ever wished they had worked harder or earned more money, so I decided to go out and ask various people, “What’s the point? What’s your message? A “Why are we here?” type of quest.
I had no agenda - just ask questions and interview one person a week for a year because, well, I’m busy and that seemed doable. Just see what I can learn and hopefully grow as a person.
Well people started divulging all kinds of personal things to me. People were really opening up, I couldn't believe what they were telling me! They were being truly genuine - showing me their hearts.
I gleaned so much from these interviews, so many life lessons that I had to put it together to share these messages of hope with others. It was all too good - so rich! Hence, 52 Weeks of Hope, was born.
For anyone going through difficulties and dark times, this gets to the magic, offering hope to anyone and everyone.
I learned that everything passes and everything has a season. 52 Weeks of Hope answers some of the burning questions of life. The book delves into the meaning of life and what is truly worthwhile.
When a home is on fire, besides passports, wallets and a cell phone, we grab our kids, animals and photos first. EVERYTHING else comes after those. Why? Because in the end those are the things that matter. This book brings that to life in vivid, descriptive palpable ways -- the things that really matter, and reminds you what’s important.
52 Weeks continues throughout the book offering hope in its myriad of stories. Readers feel better after reading the short vignettes. A moment feels brighter and a mood shifts. In the same way that a single person likes to read about how to get into a working relationship, and someone feeling heavy searches about losing weight, here is a book offering hope and insight as to why we live life to anyone feeling lost, down or who simply wants to feel the magic of life and needs some motivation. From renowned basketball coach Rudy Tomjonavich’s message to stop listening to the voices in your head, to outspoken commentator and author Rabbi Ken Chasen’s message of community, to Oprah’s motivational fitness guru, Angela Manuel-Davis’ message of purpose, and 82-year old philanthropist Suzy’s message that it’s never too late to change, and even best-selling relationship author and speaker, Arielle Ford’s message regarding relationships.
They all share messages of hope that include their personal life stories and lessons along with advice like putting down your phone and connecting with each other, being of service, getting to know your family, the importance of community. All of the stories are anecdotal and offer humor and actual real-life solutions to whatever anyone is going through.
