Learning How To Overcome Anxiety with Jon Patrick Hatcher
Adversity is something we all face at some point in our lives. How we respond to that adversity can crush our spirit or give us hope for a better tomorrow.
This week, author, writer, and humorist Jon Patrick Hatcher joins us to discuss how different genders handle adverse events, how to cultivate a perspective of hope when all seems lost, the benefits of connection and having a support system, and how he turned adversity in his own life into a survival manual for others who need a guiding light toward hope.
As Lauren and Jon unpack the science of anxiety, Jon touches on how perspective and connection shape how we respond to an adverse event. He believes that while everyone will face adversity, we all have the capacity to respond in a way that shifts our perspective from fear and anxiety to one of hope and balance.
“I think perspective is a beautiful thing. Having perspective - we don’t all get it. But when you have it, you’ve got to cherish that and say, “look, I’ve got this, and I’ve seen the other side. I know how things can get. I’ve got to live completely differently.”
Everyone has the capacity to shift from hopelessness to hope; you just need the right guiding light.
“Life’s unfair for all of us, which is what makes it fair for any of us.”
